Meet Janine Fairchild
Rooted in Metamora and proud of it, Janine has spent her entire life loving Central Illinois. From her early teaching days in Pekin—where she met and taught alongside her husband, Greg—to raising their two children in Dunlap while Greg served as principal at Banner Elementary, every chapter has been close to home. Now empty nesters, Janine and Greg have landed in the heart of Peoria, where this year they happily welcomed two new granddaughters and share their days with their calico cat, Sadie.
Janine finds joy in people, music, and the simple things—cooking a good meal, lingering over coffee with friends, and cheering on the Cardinals. And when Sunday afternoon rolls around, chances are you’ll find her cruising the World’s Most Beautiful Drive, a hometown treasure she never stops appreciating.

Meet Scott Wheeler – Peoria’s Radio Legend!
Scott Wheeler has been a Peoria radio favorite for more than four decades—and counting. His legendary run began in the early ’80s at KZ93, and over the years he’s become a familiar, trusted voice on stations like Big Oldies 93.3, WCIC, and 102.7 SuperHits.
After a brief retirement in late 2023, Scott—better known as Wheelz—made a surprise comeback to help out his longtime friend Janine Fairchild on Mix 106-9’s morning show. What started as a short-term favor quickly turned into a full-blown return to the radio life he loves.
Now, you can catch Scott and Janine weekday mornings from 5:30–9am, bringing the laughs, the smiles, and all the good vibes that make mornings better.
Born in Waukegan, Illinois, Scott caught the radio bug at just 15 years old. What keeps him coming back after all these years? One simple thing—making you smile and laugh. And when you hear that unmistakable laugh on the air… yep, that’s gotta be Scott.
Start your mornings with the one and only Wheelz, right here on Mix 106-9.
