PEORIA, Ill. – A South Peoria family was displaced by a fire in their home Tuesday night.

Battalion Chief Mike Ralston says crews responded to the home on S. Faraday Avenue around 8:30 p.m. They kept the flames from spreading from a single room and an outside wall to the rest of the house, but the damage forced all three people living there into temporary housing.

One person had to be taken to the hospital to get checked out, but there were no other injuries. Investigators believe the fire was accidental.

Peoria Fire reminds us all—take a second to test smoke alarms. Make sure you’ve got them on every level of your home and inside every bedroom. It’s a simple step that really can save your life.
