SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – JJewelry, collectible baseball cards, and even gold coins are among the items set to be auctioned off by the Illinois Department of Treasury.
The items are part of the agency’s unclaimed property stash, which includes items like lost bank accounts, insurance policy proceeds, and the contents of safe deposit boxes.
Items are surrendered to the Treasurer’s Office after private entities have tried to locate the owner for several years.
