EAST PEORIA, Ill. — A police officer injured in an officer-involved fatal shooting in East Peoria Tuesday morning has been released from the hospital.

Illinois State Police said the officer, stabbed multiple times by 19-year-old Joshua Crites, is recovering at home.

Crites died of a gunshot wound to the chest in an altercation outside the CVS on Farmdale Road and Washington Street, the Tazewell County coroner said Tuesday.

The incident stemmed from a domestic disturbance call early Tuesday morning.

An adult female and a juvenile female were taken to a local hospital and were recovering from injuries sustained in the initial domestic incident, the ISP said Tuesday afternoon.
