PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man who originally faced several state charges following an incident last September is going to federal prison for just one charge.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Alante Jackson, 23, was given three out of a possible ten years in prison Tuesday, after pleading guilty last December on a charge of Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
Prosecutors say last September, Peoria Police observed Jackson driving a stolen vehicle he used to flee police on a number of occasions.
Police caught up with Jackson — who was on probation for a state firearm case — after he crashed the car and tried to flee on foot. A nine-millimeter Glock handgun was allegedly found that he threw on to a garage roof, reported stolen from Canton.
Jackson was indicted on the federal charge last October.
