TOULON, Ill. – Illinois State Police says an investigation is underway after an officer involved shooting case in Stark County that left one person dead.
Authorities say the Henry County Special Operations Squad, which is composed of officers from multiple agencies, were attempting to execute a search warrant in Toulon Saturday morning.
The squad encountered the male subject in his apartment. The subject then allegedly attempted to strike officers with a machete.
Officers shot the male, then transported him to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
No officers were injured in the incident.
An independent investigation will be conducted and then be submitted to the Stark County State’s Attorney.
