PEORIA, Ill. – A fire believed to be intentionally set displaced 19 people late Thursday night in Peoria.
Fire Battalion Chief Scott Strum said no one was injured, but the fire caused about $100,000 damage to a three-story building at Lexington Hills Apartments on W. Fallen Oak Lane.
When crews arrived about 10:20 p.m., they found fire on a second-story balcony, which spread to a balcony on the third floor of the building.
Firefighters searched a dozen apartments on all three floors of the building, but found no one inside.
The American Red Cross helped 11 adults and five children with temporary housing, but several other adults found housing on their own.
