PEORIA, Ill. – Visitors to Peoria’s Warehouse District will be treated to strings of twinkling lights as they make their way through the corridor from Zion Coffee at Oak Street to Sugar at Elm Street.
The String Lights Project, located in the 800 block of SW Adams Street, is the result of a collaborative effort between the Downtown Development Corporation of Peoria (DDC), the Greater Peoria Leadership Council (GPLC), the City of Peoria, Baldovin Development Group and neighborhood property owners.
Visitors are encouraged to explore the Warehouse District this summer and experience the neighborhood’s expanding mix of restaurants and retailers beneath its new canopy of lights! The project builds upon recent investments in the neighborhood and supports its growing residential and commercial presence.
The project was made possible through funding from the City of Peoria and GPLC Community Sprint Grant. Mayor Rita Ali says, “This project is a great example of what can be accomplished when public and private partners work together toward a shared vision. Investments in placemaking, like these string lights, create a more inviting space and attract visitors and residents alike to support our local businesses.”
