PEORIA, Ill. – A 19-year-old must stay in jail after being charged with allegedly abusing a two-month-old child.

The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office says Kamar Crabb is charged with Aggravated Battery, with prosecutors successfully arguing for his detention on Monday.

Peoria Police received a report in January from the Department of Children and Family Services about a child with severe injuries that included a fractured upper arm and multiple brain bleeds.

The child’s mother reportedly changed her story multiple times to police before saying she left the child alone with Crabb to be at an appointment.

The mother says she received a call from Crabb that the child fell off a couch.  But a doctor determined the injuries were non-accidental and could not have resulted from falling off a couch.

Crabb was in custody in Macon County and only recently arrested in the case.
