PEORIA, Ill. – A teenager learned Friday he will spend a quarter century in prison for his role in a South Peoria shooting two years ago.
The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office says 17-year-old Naidren Williams will serve 25 years after pleading guilty to Aggravated Battery with a Firearm in June.
The shooting occurred the evening of August 20th, 2024, where a victim was shot three times, including once in the head, in the area of Wyoming and Ligonier. The victim survived and identified Williams as the shooter.
Prosecutors argued for 28 years, the maximum permitted under the plea agreement, and noted that Williams would be eligible for parole in ten years because of his age.
Chief Judge Katherine Gorman said that she sees young men with guns in her courtroom “all too often,” and such conduct must be deterred.
