PEORIA, Ill. – Want to get to know the neighbors on your block a little better? The City of Peoria is giving you a financial nudge to make it happen.
Peoria is launching the “Hello Neighbor Gathering Fund,” picking up the tab for fifteen local residents to host a neighborhood get-together this fall. The city is handing out $100 grants to help pay for things like pizza nights, porch parties, or even a casual coffee-and-pastry walk.
It’s all about building a stronger community right where you live.
If you’re a renter or a homeowner in Peoria and you’ve never hosted before, you’ve got an advantage—first-time hosts are getting priority. The city will send the cash via PayPal or Venmo before your event, so you aren’t stuck footing the bill.
The deadline to apply online is 5 p.m. on September 22nd. Events need to happen between October 1st and November 15th.
Whether it’s a game night or just carving pumpkins, that hundred bucks could be exactly what you need to break the ice with the people near you.
