EAST PEORIA, Ill. – Three people were displaced by fire in their East Peoria home Sunday afternoon.

Crews responded around 3:00 p.m. to the home in the 100 block of Gardner Avenue, finding heavy smoke and fire. The residents got out safely before firefighters arrived. 

Firefighters also dealt with downed, live power lines near the home. East Peoria Police assisted with traffic control in the area of Meadow Avenue to ensure safety while firefighters brought the blaze under control within approximately 30 minutes. Emergency crews remained on scene until around 5:00 p.m. extinguishing hot spots and conducting overhaul operations.

No injuries were reported. An investigator determined the cause of the fire was electrical.

Damage is estimated at $80,000. The American Red Cross is assisting the three displaced residents with temporary housing.
