PEORIA, Ill. (25 News) -Tenants report overflowing dumpsters are attracting rodents, flies and stray animals along the block of an apartment complex in Peoria’s East Bluff.
Residents of Glen Oak Manor Apartments on North Wisconsin Avenue said that instead of clearing out the existing bins, management brought in a roll-off dumpster, which has also filled up.
Residents who spoke anonymously said they fear eviction or retaliation if they file a code enforcement complaint.
A resident, whose voice was altered and face concealed, said the heat has made the situation worse.
“It has been 100 degrees. We’ve had excessive heat warnings these last couple weeks… Not only is the smell hazardous to some of our residents here, it’s the rodents. There have been wild dogs back here trying to get into it. We have children here. We don’t want anyone attacked…it’s so gross,” the resident said.
LaHood Property Management was contacted and said it will not comment at this time.
