PEORIA, Ill. (25 News) — Bradley University will bring together local leaders, educators and community members Wednesday for a TEDx event examining the growing role of artificial intelligence.
According to 25 News, the event will focus on how AI is changing leadership, collaboration and everyday life. Discussions will also explore ways the technology can be used for good while addressing concerns surrounding misinformation.
Joshua Lewer, an economics professor and interim dean of Bradley’s Foster College of Business and Caterpillar College of Engineering and Technology, told 25 News the TEDx format encourages attendees to disconnect from distractions and be open to new perspectives.
“At TED, it’s like going to the Masters golf tournament. Everyone turns off their phones and you’re there for two hours to be a part of it,” Lewer said. “And I ask everyone that comes to TEDx on Wednesday to just be ready to listen and to have their mind and heart open to new ideas.”
The event will feature six speakers from Bradley University and organizations across central Illinois and beyond. They include PsychSensei founder and CEO Ryan Terao; OSF Senior Vice President of Innovation and Transformation Becky Buchen; Bradley Director of Choral Activities and Music Education Cory Boulton; Kern Family Foundation KEEN Program Director Ranen McLanahan; Bradley electrical engineering student Injy Wasfy; and Caterpillar Director of Artificial Intelligence Product Management Charlie Wood.
TEDx Bradley University runs from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, and is open to the public.
Tickets are $5 for students and $30 for non-students.
