WOODFORD COUNTY, Ill. – A man has been sentenced after pleading guilty to a child endangerment charge relating to the drowning death of his daughter last year.
25 News reports Tyler Toft pleaded guilty on Friday to the charge and was sentenced to 30 months probation.
Three-year-old Essence Toft drowned in a pond in Eureka last July, and Toft was arrested in Florida a month later.
Essence has been playing near a pond with two other children behind her grandmother’s house on Eastview Circle on July 11th, and was not breathing when first responders arrived.
She was pronounced brain dead two days later.
Tyler Toft must not leave the state without permission, as required by the probation, and must keep his contact information up-to-date, have no firearms or weapons, and have no unsupervised contact with anyone under 12.
