PEORIA COUNTY, Ill. – The Peoria County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a possible attempted kidnapping.
In a release, Sheriff Chris Watkins says deputies were called around 7 p.m. Tuesday to the 5000 block of Katherine Avenue in Bellevue, not far from Norwood Primary School.
Several witnesses told officers that they saw a silver sedan with tinted windows, a dented door, rust on the bottom of it, and a loud exhaust approach a six-year-old girl.
The girl told deputies that the man driving the car asked to her get in, telling her he had candy in the trunk.
The car drove off when a witness walked outside their home.
A possible description of the driver is a male with a dark complexion, wearing a black hat, and hoop earrings.
Detectives have been canvassing the area looking for video. If you have video of the vehicle described, or any additional information, contact Detective Bohm at the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office at (309) 213-7906.
