PEORIA, Ill. – Roadwork on two of Peoria’s busiest streets will highlight a laundry list of road construction projects to begin Monday in the Peoria area.
Pioneer Parkway will go down to one lane in each direction between Allen Road and Sommer Street for the start of the Pioneer Parkway/University Street reconstruction project. The lane closures will remain through the end of the year and left turns from Pioneer Parkway onto University Street will not be restricted.
The project will wrap up in late 2025 and additional lane closures will be announced when construction phases change.
Also in Peoria, pavement marking work will begin Monday on West Townline Road and continue along University Street until Moss Avenue. Drivers should watch for the pavement parking crews throughout the day. An overabundance of caution and extra distance should be utilized near the pavement parking vehicles.
Work on the Morton Avenue bridge on I-74 in Morton, originally scheduled to start last week, will begin Monday instead. Morton Avenue will go down to one lane in each direction over I-74 through the end of August.
Route 91 in Peoria County east of Princeville will be closed at the railroad viaduct near the Route 90 junction for drainage and pavement improvements. The road closure and detour will last through mid-September.
Westbound I-474 at the Shade-Lohmann Bridge will be reduced to one lane for routine inspections. This lane reduction will be just for the day. This is separate from the right lane closure eastbound on the bridge, which will continue.
