PEORIA, Ill. – A man who has spent his life in central Illinois will fill a vacancy on the Tenth Judicial Circuit.
The Illinois Supreme Court announced on Friday that Timothy Cusack has been appointed as a Resident Circuit Judge for Peoria County. Cusack’s term will start on August 15th and run through December 7th, 2026.
He will take over for Judge John Vespa, who retired July 31st.
The Tenth Circuit covers Peoria, Tazewell, Marshall, Stark, and Putnam Counties.
Illinois Supreme Court Justice Holder White says Cusack has worked to better his community.
“As an Associate Judge, he has worked to streamline child abuse and neglect cases. As a Circuit Judge, he will be able to build on his efforts to make positive changes to the judicial system,” Justice White said in a statement.
Cusack first came to the bench as an Associate Judge in 2013. Prior to that, Cusack worked in the Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office, as well as the public defender’s offices in Peoria and Tazewell Counties. Cusack also ran a private practice in the 1990s and 2000s.
