MARQUETTE HEIGHTS, Ill. – The victim in a house fire Friday morning in Marquette Heights has been identified.
Tazewell County Coroner Charles Hanley says 41-year-old Fiona McCormick was pronounced dead at the scene of the fire just after 7:00 A.M. that morning.
The fire on the 200-block of Kaskaskia Road was called in just after 6:00 A.M.
Fire departments from Marquette Heights, North Pekin, and Creve Coeur battled the blaze and were on scene most of the day putting out hot spots.
Hanley says the cause and manner of death is pending further testing after an autopsy was conducted, but says foul play is not suspected.
Illinois State Police, the Illinois State Fire Marshal, and the Tazewell County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate.
