WEST PEORIA, Ill. – Multiple fire departments were called to a fire at the Peoria Disposal Company/GFL facility on Swords Avenue in West Peoria just before 8 a.m. Thursday.
Peoria County Sheriff Chris Watkins said that his office along with firefighters from West Peoria, Peoria, Timber Hollis and the Air National Guard were on scene.
Watkins said the roof of one of the large garages on site was on fire.
No roads were closed.
