PEORIA, Ill. – Two teenagers involved in a carjacking this past December in Peoria will be tried as adults.

The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office says Jaiden Dillard and Rodkell Grayer, both 15 years old, have been charged with Aggravated Vehicular Hijacking, and will remain in jail following a detention hearing.

The incident happened on December 6th, which started with a stolen pick-up truck that was found near the CEFCU bank on Knoxville, with five teenagers fleeing after OnStar was used to stop the truck.

Prosecutors allege Grayer pulled a gun on the driver of a vehicle parked at a nearby ATM while Dillard tried to pull him out.

Grayer allegedly ran into the bank after and was arrested, while Dillard reportedly tried to drive off by sitting on top of the driver, but crashed the vehicle into a lamppost, and was arrested after trying to run.

Prosecutors say factors such as the seriousness of the offense, the ages of the defendants, prior juvenile history, and potential threat to public safety were considered in the decision to transfer Dillard and Grayer to adult court.
