PEORIA, Ill. – A man was arrested by Peoria Police after a traffic stop Tuesday after a stolen weapon was allegedly found.

A vehicle that was observed in a prior fleeing traffic stop was spotted on Brandywine Drive at around 6:00 P.M., and eventually stopped at Lavalle and Marengo.

Officers reportedly found the loaded and stolen handgun during a search of the vehicle.

18-year-old Dorrean Ellis was then arrested as part of the investigation, and taken to the Peoria County Jail.  Ellis was charged with Home Invasion, Aggravated Domestic Battery, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Criminal Damage to Property, Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm without a Valid FOID Card, and Unlawful Possession of Firearm Ammunition without a FOID Card.
