PEORIA, Ill. – An early morning joyride Friday morning in Peoria led to a crash and two teenage boys injuries.

Police say a stolen vehicle was spotted northbound on Gale just before 6:15 A.M., and sped off when officers tried to initiate a traffic stop.  The vehicle crashed a short time later at the intersection of Harper Terrace and Gilbert Avenue.

A 16-year-old and a 15-year-old were taken to a local hospital for their non-life-threatening injuries.

Both were charged with Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, while the 15-year-old driver was additionally charged with Reckless Driving and multiple traffic violations.

The pair were then released to the custody of their guardians.
