WASHINGTON, Ill. – Police officers across central Illinois spent their Friday morning on top of a popular chain coffee shop for a good cause.

The annual “Cop On A Rooftop” was held at Dunkin’ locations across the area, where police officers would climb on the roof to help raise money for the Special Olympics.

Dramane Taylor is a Community Resource Officer for the Washington Police Department.  He says the money they raised helps support the dreams of the Special Olympics athletes.

“They work hard.  They want to get medals and things like that, and it takes money to put those events on,” Taylor said.

Taylor says Washington has a goal of around $5,000 each year.
