PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria City Soccer is playoff bound with a new piece of hardware.

The Carp clinched the USL League Two Great Plains Division championship Wednesday night without playing a match.  SantaFe Wanderers FC fell to Springfield FC, 5-4, giving Peoria City the division crown.

It’s the first division title in club history, and Peoria City’s 4th playoff appearance.

Last year, Peoria City lost in the conference quarterfinals to Minneapolis City FC in penalty kicks.  The year prior, the Carp lost in the national championship game to Seacoast United Phantoms.

Peoria City won the division title with three matches to spare.  They return to the pitch at home Thursday night against FC Ambush, then travel to Kansas City to take on Sunflower State FC on July 7th, followed by the season finale at home against Springfield FC.
