PEORIA, Ill. – One year after federal funding was cut for public media radio and television stations across the country, Peoria’s WTVP is asking for the community’s help to keep it running.

In response last year, WTVP launched the We Believe campaign.  The campaign was able to raise $1 million to fill any gaps left by federal funding losses.  The station says it also added 2,500 new donors, and hundreds of thousands of dollars in one-time additional gifts.

Now, it’s launching Stronger Together to try and keep some of those donors on a more sustainable level.

“The WTVP Stronger Together campaign builds on the momentum generated through last year’s campaign, while pivoting to focus strategically on building year-over-year sustainability for this incredible community resource,” said WTVP Board Chairman Andy Chiou in a statement announcing the campaign.

The goal is to raise an additional $600,000 in new and increased sustaining gifts through the Stronger Together campaign.

WTVP is inviting the community to a breakfast on Wednesday, July 22nd, at the WTVP studios on State St.
