PEORIA, Ill. (25 News) – A Peoria County jury found a Peoria attorney not guilty of voting twice in the April 2025 elections.
On Aug. 5, 67-year-old Thorn M. Smith was acquitted of the felony charge of allegedly trying to vote twice during the elections.
Smith was accused of already receiving a mail-in ballot when he went to vote on April 1 last year. According to a release, Smith signed a form stating that he had not previously voted and submitted a second provisional ballot.
The charge will be dropped; however, he still faces stalking and harassment via electronic devices charges in the case.
Thorn is scheduled to go to trial for those charges on Oct. 29.
