LACON, Ill. – A Lacon restaurant is honoring one of their servers who died this week with a fundraiser for her family.

Samantha Hobbick of Chillicothe worked at Wildey’s Country Diner as a server.  She passed away on Monday after a two-vehicle crash near Rome.

Wildey’s General Manager NaTashia Boyer called Hobbick a “bundle of sunshine.”

“She was a rainbow, she was the most colorful person that you would ever meet.  She touched so many lives,” Boyer said.

Boyer adds Hobbick was a paraprofessional at Midland Elementary School who worked with special needs kids.

Boyer says Hobbick had been a server at Wildey’s for two years, adding that she was great with the customers.  She described the mood at the restaurant since Hobbick’s passing as “tough,” saying she was friends with a lot of people there.

Hobbick was scheduled to work a shift at Wildey’s on Sunday, with the restaurant turning that day into a fundraiser.  All tips and donations that day will be given to Hobbick’s father to help cover funeral expenses, as well as setting up a trust fund for Hobbick’s two children.

The restaurant will match all tips and donations that day.

The event runs from 6:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, with bingo planned for 6:00 P.M.
