DUNLAP, Ill. (25News Now) – A new indoor athletic facility is giving Dunlap School District 323 students a hub for more athletics and activities.

Construction on the 12-million-dollar multipurpose facility project began in 2024, and the building opened September 18th.

The fieldhouse includes four basketball courts, a six-lane track, a room for dance practices and a golf simulator, among other features. The building is 54,000 square feet.

Scott Adreon, director of operations and services for Dunlap School District #323, said the facility has seen a range of uses since opening.

“From day one we opened this building. We had our open house on the 18th of September. On the 19th, we had a volleyball tournament in here. And then since then, the use has just expanded. I mean, last night we had tennis in here, dance was in here, cross country was in here. I think football came in for a little while,” Adreon said.

The district said the facility will be used for community events, sports tournaments and other activities beyond student use. District 323 will take this school year to decide when the right time will be to allow outside organizations to utilize the facility.

The track will be open to the public for ‘Dunlap Community Walking Hours’ from 6:00 am-8:00 am starting November 2nd. The district hopes the facility will become a staple in the Dunlap community that will benefit beyond the school walls.

The fieldhouse is located at the corner of Cedar Hills Drive and Legion Hall Road in Dunlap.
