GasBuddy Head of Petroleum Analysis Patrick De Haan says prices fell in most states last week, but a spike in the Great Lakes region caused by a refinery issue offset much of that decline.
De Haan says the refinery situation is beginning to clear up.
Nationally, the average price of gasoline remained at $4.24 per gallon. That’s down more than 22 cents from a month ago but $1.24 higher than a year ago.
Diesel prices increased four cents nationally over the past week to an average of $6.34 per gallon.
GasBuddy says prices in other parts of Illinois also vary. The average in Champaign is $4.60 per gallon, while the Quad Cities average is $4.32.
