6:04 AM. 5 of the 6 children are up. WHY?!?!??! Just one day I want to sleep in…. just give me 7am people!!! I love you my babies, but SLEEP!!!!!
8:45 AM. All the older kids are in a deep discussion about the coronovirus. Child #1 “but if we go out, then we die”. Child #4 “that’s dumb, we have to go outside, that’s where the air comes from, if we don’t have air then we will die”. Child #2 “I don’t like this whole thing”. Child #3 “I think we need to eat. My brain hurts”. Child #4 “I saw a commercial on TV that Corona is a beer anyway! I just don’t know what to think. But I’m definitely not drinking beer”…. thank you Coronovirus!!!! WIN #1
11:30 AM. E-learning. No one quit today!! In fact, we did some of tomorrow’s work too! Only one papercut! WIN #2
11:45 AM. Decided to venture out and get the kids McDonald’s! We haven’t been out or eaten out in a while. They had a great morning so why not. WIN #3
12:14 PM. Well, they decided against McDonald’s, which I am fine with, but then couldn’t agree where to go. So, what does a mom do…. goes to 4 different places of course. Subway for #1, Burger King for #2, Noodles & Co. for #3, and Wendy’s for #4. That was enough driving for the next 30 days!! Good news is, even with all that driving, I’m still getting 30 days to the gallon! WIN #4
1:46 PM. Lunch done and all cleaned up. Child #4 “that was great Mom, thanks…. I’m gonna go change”.
1:50 PM. Enter Child #4 in his underwear. For 30 days that has been his outfit. Child #4 “much better!! Clothes just feel weird”
Amen buddy…. Amen.
2:49 PM. Started to dive into my work while everyone was settled and quiet. Video conferenced a few clients. 10 min into a call, my client 84 years old, who is on with her daughter, starts giggling…. child #4 is in the background doing wrestling moves in his underwear….
3:35 PM. Moved myself into room where kids in their underwear cannot get behind me. WIN #5
4:56 PM. Child #3 “Mom, I love your cooking, but is there anyway I can get me some more of those noodles we had for lunch”. Lord….
7:15 PM. Looking back on the day I am sitting here trying to think about what my kids are going through. They are troopers in all this chaos!! We have been given such a great opportunity being home with our families. Yes, alot of it sucks. Not being with friends and extended family. But look at the things we have accomplished. I am pretty sure my kids could cook all their own meals at this point!! They can also do their own laundry!! They are now self-sufficient in doing their schoolwork (unless they quit). They have learned that they do have ALOT of things to keep them from being bored. Eating out is a luxury!! Going shopping is a luxury!! Their family are now their friends too! They have learned they CAN and HAVE to rely on their siblings!! Their family and friends are always there for them, even if its via phone or computer!! All in all, I truly believe this time has been an AMAZING blessing! They are going to appreciate everything so much more than they ever have… and so will I. Thank you Lord for this time (even though I complained…. still complain….alot). TOO MANY WINS TO COUNT!!
Night!!
