PEORIA, Ill. – A major milestone in a two-year downtown Peoria road construction project has been reached.

Starting on Tuesday, traffic on Adams Street is now two-way between William Kumpf and Hamilton Boulevards.

The city is asking people to be alert, look both ways, and be mindful of bicyclists using the new bike lanes.  People exiting downtown parking decks in the area should be aware of right-turn-only exits, and plan their routes accordingly.

The work is part of the Adams Street and Jefferson Avenue One-Way to Two-Way Conversion Project.  City leaders expect Jefferson to be converted to two-way by mid-May.
