PEORIA, Ill. – Two people have died after a domestic disturbance turned into an officer-involved shooting in downtown Peoria.

Peoria Police says the incident happened in the area of Hamilton and Boulevard Friday just after 6:30 P.M.

During the incident, an adult male allegedly shot a female victim.  The responding officer then fired their weapon and struck the male suspect.

Both the male and female were taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, and later died.

Due to protocols, Illinois State Police is handling the investigation on both shootings.

PEORIA, Ill. – A woman has died after a shooting during an alleged domestic incident in downtown Peoria.

Peoria Police says officers responded to the area of Hamilton and Madison just after 6:30 P.M.

An adult male allegedly shot the female, then started exchanging gunfire with an officer.

Both the male and female were taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.  The female was pronounced dead a short time later, and the male was listed in critical condition.

There were no injuries to the Peoria Police officer.

The shooting is under investigation by Illinois State Police.
