PEORIA, Ill. – The ribbon has now been cut on the new and improved Golf Learning Center in Peoria.

The facility had a soft opening in February, after more than a year of renovations.  The $6.5 million project features TopTracer driving ranges, golf simulators, and a new restaurant.

A ribbon cutting ceremonial opening took place on Tuesday, featuring Peoria Park District leaders, city leaders, state representatives, and Governor J.B. Pritzker.  The project received $4.75 million in state grants.

Pritzker spoke before the ribbon was cut, and says the improvements are about more than just golf.

“With these renovations, we’re helping to breathe new life into the future of the region, attracting new visitors and major new investments,” Pritzker said.

Park District Executive Director Emily Cahill says the renovations are about access and opportunity for young people to build skills and confidence, and for families and friends to spend time together.
