PEORIA, Ill. (25 News) – A Summer Youth Initiative, focused on leadership, arts, and violence prevention, has been launched in Peoria.
ART Inc.’s Save Our Sons is a six-week youth empowerment and violence prevention initiative designed to support boys and young men of color in grades 4-12 throughout the Peoria area.
Through interactive Saturday sessions, participants will engage in:
- Leadership and mentorship workshops
- Creative arts and self-expression
- Team building and conflict resolution activities
- Entrepreneurship and workforce readiness exposure
- Fitness and wellness programming
- Community service and positive peer engagement
- Field trips and enrichment experiences
“Too many young men are navigating environments filled with violence, trauma, and limited opportunity,” Joy Holmquist, Chief Operations & Programs Officer at ART INC, said in a prepared statement. “Save Our Sons is about interrupting that cycle by creating positive spaces, trusted mentorship, and experiences that help youth see their value, their purpose, and their future.”
Youth 10-18 are encouraged to apply, and space is limited.
