DELAVAN, Ill. (25 News) – The City of Delavan has a new interim police chief.

Officer Carl Dodd was sworn in on Tuesday during Delavan’s city council meeting, after Police Chief Michael Evans resigned on Monday. Officer Evans served as the police chief for Delavan for five years and served a total of 20 years for the city.

Although the city did not mention what the reason for his resignation was, in a statement to 25 News, Mayor Adam White said, “We are confident that officer Dodd can handle the responsibilities until a permanent solution is found. All current officers of the city will be encouraged to apply before opening the application process to outside applicants.”
