EAST PEORIA, Ill. – Heads up if your commute takes you through East Peoria. Starting Monday, July 13th, the ramp from Washington Street—that’s Illinois 40—over to westbound I-74 is closing down.
It’s all for bridge repairs. I-DOT says crews are replacing the joints and redoing the surface, and it’s going to be a while—this work is expected to continue into early September.
I-DOT says give yourself some extra time, or find a different route if you can, because things will likely get backed up with this construction. Keep your eyes on the road, obey the speed limits, and watch for road crews.
