PEORIA, Ill. – In a rematch from last year’s USL League Two playoffs, the victors this time was the club from the Whiskey City.
On its home pitch Saturday night at Shea Stadium, Peoria City moved on to the next round with a 4-0 win over Minneapolis City SC.
The Peoria City win avenges a loss to Minneapolis City SC in last year’s playoffs in a penalty shootout. It also ends a perfect season for Minneapolis City SC.
Peoria City now moves on to the Central Conference Finals, and a spot in the USL League Two playoffs quarterfinals. They will play the winner of Flint City Bucks and Steel City FC, which is to take place Sunday night. The location of that match has yet to be determined, as of Sunday afternoon.
DJ Koulai netted two goals in the first half to pace the Carp. Preston Kipnusu scored on a penalty kick in the second half to put the match out of reach.
