PEORIA HEIGHTS, Ill. – One of Peoria Height’s major roads is receiving help from the federal government for upgrades.
Mayor Matt Wigginton says the Tri-County Regional Planning Commission, which manages the funds, has awarded the village more than $1.5 million for the project.
The project will renovate the road with resurfacing, as well as adding walking and bicycle paths, on Glen between Knoxville and Prospect.
“This is a thoroughfare that connects Village Hall with our school system, with our library, so this is a real artery for Peoria Heights,” Wigginton said.
Wigginton says the funding will cover about 80% of the project’s cost. He says previously approved funding will cover the rest of the costs.
