DELAVAN, Ill. (25 News) – The City of Delavan is welcoming a new alderman after a sudden vacancy occurred last month in Ward 3.
Rebecca Lowry is one of the two representatives in Ward 3, serving the remainder of Douglas Bury’s term. Bury resigned back in July.
Bury’s departure came two months after he joined a majority of council members to end all discussions about any future data center projects and proposals. The vote was 4-1.
Mayor Adam White read a letter from Bury during the July 21 city council meeting.
“I’ve had a fulfilling experience as a member of the city council of Delavan but have chosen to leave due to personal reasons,” Bury wrote. “I would like to take this opportunity to thank the citizens of Delavan for the opportunity it’s given me, as well as the support of my family during my time as alderman. I wish you much success in the future.”
Lowry was sworn in at the August 4 council meeting.
The Ward 3 seat will be on the ballot in April 2027, as well as one of the Ward 1 seats held by Joshua Lusher and a Ward 2 seat held by Brent Nafziger.
