PEORIA, Ill. – OSF HealthCare has received a $300,000 grant to expand dental services for children in the Peoria area.

The three-year grant from the Illinois Children’s Healthcare Foundation will support OSF’s Pediatric Oral Health Services project, including additional resources aimed at increasing access to dental care for children.

The funding comes as OSF Dental plans to expand its Forest Park location on the OSF Saint Francis Medical Center campus.

OSF says the expansion will include dedicated procedure rooms for oral, maxillofacial and dental procedures requiring sedation or anesthesia. That portion of the project is also being supported by federal funding secured through congressionally directed spending by U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin.

OSF Dental provides services to patients of all ages, including children covered by Medicaid and people without insurance.

The organization also works with community groups to provide pediatric dental screenings and operates a dental residency program that trains four residents each year.
