PEORIA, Ill. – New roadwork will get underway in the Peoria area this week.

In East Peoria, Washington Street between Veterans Drive and Camp Street in East Peoria will close on Tuesday to remove and replace expansion joints on the bridge over Farm Creek. There will be no access to Route 8 from the I-74 E. Washington exit ramps. The closure is expected to last until mid-August.

In Pekin, on Wednesday and Friday, Court Street eastbound will be closed between 8th Street and 10th Street from 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Traffic will be detoured at 8th Street and Broadway.

In Morton, beginning Tuesday morning and lasting through most of the week, southbound traffic on Main Street before the Jackson Street stop will be closed for a contractor to begin repairing Circle K’s damaged sanitary sewer. One northbound lane will remain open. When the sewer work is completed, the pavement will be repaired. Businesses will remain open.

In Peoria, the intersection of S. Warren Street and W. Antoinette will be closed to traffic beginning at 7 a.m. on Tuesday. The closure is necessary for pavement removal as part of the Combined Sewer Overflow Year 4 Control Project and is expected to last eight weeks, weather permitting.

S. Warren Street through traffic should utilize S. Shelley Street. W. Antoinette Street through traffic should utilize W. Garden Street.

The bridge washing and nightly lane closures on I-74 and the Murray Baker Bridge will switch to the westbound lanes from the eastbound lanes the previous week.
