PEORIA, Ill. – Avid bowlers Cass and Kathleen Hermacinski are leading an effort to reopen Peoria’s Landmark Lanes.
They say despite being closed for 10 months, the bowling center is fully operational.
Kathleen Hermacinski tells WMBD’s “Greg and Dan Show” when it first opened in 1979, Landmark Lanes brought in the Professional Bowling Association’s True Value Classic.
“Probably some of the world’s best bowlers have walked through and bowled on these lanes. Pete Webber, Dave D’Entremont (winner of the 1995 Peoria Open). Histories and legends have walked through and bowled on these lanes, and we just want to reopen it,” Hermacinski says.
The Hermacinskis say they have the support of professional bowlers for the project.
They’re now looking for someone to invest in the work they’ve begun, and they need help in bringing Landmark Lanes up-to-date.
“We need help like tearing up carpet potentially, to come out and do some work, and even contribute financially,” Cass Hermacinski says.
The couple say they need an investment of $140,000 to finish the project. Individual smaller donations could be recognized with a plaque or other name recognition.
Kathleen Hermacinski says currently there are only 68 bowling lanes available in Peoria. Reopening Landmark Lanes would bring back 50 additional lanes.
