DUNLAP, Ill. – It was a close call in Dunlap on Thursday.

Firefighters were called to a home on Pauli Road, finding a much bigger problem than a fire.

When they pulled up, crews didn’t just see smoke—they saw the home partially collapsed from an explosion, and smelled propane.

One person living in the home got out safely. Firefighters did a quick sweep of the home to make sure nobody else was inside, and rescued a cat.

Crews knocked down the fire,  but the cause of that explosion is still being investigated.

State fire investigators are trying to figure out exactly what happened.
