PEORIA, Ill. – Two men are jailed after police tracked down a vehicle connected to a shooting earlier this week in Peoria.
Police arrested 36-year-old Lawrence Miller and 42-year-old Andre Washington on Wednesday afternoon following a high-risk traffic stop in the 800 block of W. Lake Avenue.
The arrests stem from a shooting incident on Tuesday evening. Officers were sent to the 2100 block of N. Gale Avenue after a ShotSpotter alert flagged three gunshots in the area.
A victim told officers that a man got out of a vehicle and fired multiple shots at him, while a second suspect inside the car also appeared to be armed.
Detectives found the suspect’s vehicle the next day, leading to the arrests of both Miller and Washington. Officers recovered two handguns during the stop.
Both men are in the Peoria County Jail facing weapons charges, including unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon. Washington was also wanted on a warrant out of Macon County.
