PEORIA, Ill. – A group of teenagers vandalized one of the vans at Peoria Friendship House this week, leaving a primary source of transportation out of service.

President and CEO Marcellus Sommerville says the 15-passenger van is used for several things.

“Picking up deliveries from Midwest Food Bank. We use it for transportation for youth in the Summer Camp program and the after-school programs,”  Somerville says.

Sommerville tells WMBD’s “Greg and Dan Show” right now Friendship House has 173 kids in the Summer Camp program.

“That’s just K-8th. And, then we have children that are high school aged, we call them Junior Counselors, that are getting on-the-job training,” Sommerville says.

Anyone with information about the vandalism that occurred earlier this week is asked to contact Peoria Police.

Donations are being accepted to help Friendship House of Christian Services recover from losing one of their vans.
